Singing in the Shower
I thought of you this morning as I was taking my shower. Now don’t let that image in your mind drive you crazy. Ha ha.
No, for some reason taking my shower, just as I started to sing, I thought of the songs you used to sing in the shower. I don’t remember you ever taking a shower without singing. It seems like all of those songs you used to sing were sweet, innocent songs from an earlier time. You leaned towards the Beatles, some of the old soft country songs like from Jim Reeves, and others that were, perhaps, a little before my time.
I remember what a sweet voice you have and how pleasant it was to hear your voice echoing in the shower and through the door. I don’t think you ever realized how peaceful that made me feel as I lay it in my bed or in yours, depending on where we might be. It was relaxing and so peaceful as I stirred from my sleep and slowly came awake.
This morning, I think I thought of you singing in the shower because for some unknown reason, as I rinsed my hair, I started to sing your favorite old Beatles song, “Things We Said Today”. That one always seemed to make you quiet for a while, lost in the memories the words of that song brought.
It made me quiet this morning, too. Probably not from the words of the song, but instead from the memories. The memories of you singing in the shower.
